Oscar Chavez, college graduate, certified personal trainer & IMX Certified Pilates Instructor with fitness manager experience at large commercial gyms. Overall, I really enjoy corepower yoga, just stay away from Laura’s class.Oscar Chavez & Samanta Aguirre (co owners of IMX Pilates Wyckoff and Westwood) have a combined fitness experience of over 15 years in multiple fitness studios & commercial gyms. Also, I normally go to Sherman Oaks location or Encino and it's always great. I have never had any problems, my phone has never been used or been a distraction to anyone. Especially enjoy Nicole P., I have taken her Monday 6.30 pm classes a few times and she is absolutely awesome! No wonder her classes are always full. Great teachers, great atmosphere, very helpful and accommodating. Lindsey, Nicole P, Ashley Sc, Sara Ta, Michelle Sa. Yoga is supposed to be a good, pleasant, and healthy experience, this instructors’ attitude and ignorance made it the exact opposite for me-enough to make me write this review. If you chose to go to this location, don't take Laura's classes. They don't want you to talk on the phone or being loud or bring 'suitcase in' ( her exact words), but they understand people carry valuable stuff and it's only common sense if your phone is on silence and not visible, there should be no problem (and it's never been during my 10 years of yoga practice.) They were really nice and helpful at the corporate office, but I would strongly suggest to stay away from Westwood location as I'm yet to hear back from their manager, Lila ( it's been over 48 hours since I left voice mail ). She confirmed that corepower doesn't have a no phone or no purse policy. She said she understood my frustration and couldn't believe Laura wouldn't let me take the class. After I left, I called corepower yoga corporate office and the lady who answered was very pleasant and compassionate. Basically I paid for the service that I couldn’t receive. She handed me some business card and told me to call this number. I told her if she wasn't allowing me to take the class, then I should not have been paying for it and she should have refunded me. Eventually, I asked for the manager but nobody was there at the moment. After she finally realized I was standing waiting for her to check me in, she apologized and thanked me for letting her multitask. She accused me of being disrespectful although when I first came in she completely ignored me while chatting with someone, hugging and making lunch plans. Her response was 'she understands the studio is not responsible for theft, but it's their policy that phones aren't allowed'. I've asked her what happens if it gets lost or stolen. She wouldn't let me take the class stating that even if my phone is hidden in my wallet, it's is still distracting to other students and she knows it's there, so it doesn't matter, I just can't bring it period. I refuse to put my $1200 iPhone into the locker that could be broken into in seconds (and if you read reviews from Julie M or Lance J, they have had theft issues before when things were stolen from their lockers), or stolen from the car. She kept insisting I have to put it in their locker, or leave in the car or at home. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take the class because Laura would not let me bring my phone into the class even though it's hidden and on silence in my little wallet. I went in on September 25 for 5.30pm C2 class with Laura. This is probably the worst customer service experience I've ever had! I'm black tag member that has been going to corepower for probably 10 years. Great way to start it too with proper coffee opposite the studio and healthy food just around the corner. Be ready to sweat it out if you’re a beginner like me (classes are heated just enough to our benefit) They also have showers and everything you need to come out fresh and clean for the day. They’ve been helping me get back into shape and were very open, kind and understanding as I was visiting from abroad and couldn’t subscribe at first. Super clean with great classes and teachers and a lovely concept using yoga and music mixed in with other disciplines.
